Guest Designer

I was given the opportunity to be a guest designer for sweet stamp shop. A company that I have loved since I discovered it 7 years ago. So this opportunity was exciting and sooo fun. Today is their official release of these stamps and I'm so excited to share the creations I made using stamps from this release. I hope you enjoy and take some inspiration away with you to create something. All stamps used in these projects can be purchased at sweetstampshop.com

A magical Invite

Hey sweet friends. It’s Autumn and I’m so excited to share my first post for Sweet Stamp Shop with you. In my house it’s not fall until it’s Hocus Pocus time. We have an annual hocus pocus party where we watch the movie and eat yummy treats to kick off the season. Sweet stamp shops squad ghouls stamp set is not only perfect for this years invites but i’m pretty sure this will top all past and future invites for our annual party.

I started off by printing out the Sanderson sister spell because the look I was going for would have been too difficult to stamp out. After printing it out on cardstock I used some distressed ink in vintage photo, crushed olive, and wilted violet in distressed oxide to give the background an old look. Using tombows mono adhesive I attached the background to my card.

Next I stamped my witch image on x-press it paper using memento ink in black tuxedo which is the ink of choice when working with copics. I colored the image using a variety of copic markers and even tried my hand at adding to the image by drawing plaid on Mary’s skirt. Nicole does an amazing job of inspiring us all during her lives but I wanted to see how doable they really are. I tried out her tutorial for a cobblestone background and when she says we are capable of doing this ourselves she is absolutely right. I also stamped the “I put a spell on you” sentiment and used distressed oxide in wilted violet to add a pop of color. Wanting to add a little magic to my card I decided to cut out the top of the cauldron and add a glowing element to bring it to life. I did this by using a photo sleeve, fuse tool and glow in the dark elmers glue. It took a few tries to get the right size and proper seal but in the end I had a glow in the dark pocket that I put behind the hole I cut out of the cauldron.

Finally I attached the image and sentiment onto the background using foam squares to give it some dimension and my Hocus Pocus invite is now complete. Thank you for stopping by and joining in on some magical card making.

Create a fun Dia De Los Muertos card

Hello Sweets! It’s Autumn with a fun card inspired by the vibrant colors of the hispanic culture using the new Dia De Los Muertos stamp set. This is a perfect stamp set for the upcoming holiday or it can be used for an anniversary or wedding invite. The first thing I thought while creating this card was “Till Death Do Us Part”.

First I created my background by stamping the flower image in various directions using Versafine ink pad in onyx black and heat embossing the stamped images with clear embossing powder. After stamping all of the images I went in with tombows dual brush markers in bright palette and randomly colored flower petals to give it a stained glass look.

Next I stamped my skeleton images on x-press it paper using memento ink in tuxedo black and heat embossing with clear powder. Wanting to keep my skeletons primarily white with some bright accents I colored them in grey tones using copic markers. Then used bright colored copies to add a pop of color.

When placing my stamped images on the background there was too much color so I used my cricut to cut out a tag on black cardstock. I then used the leftover piece and layed it over my background to give the illusion of a stained glass window. After failing to adhere my cut out to the background with tombow mono adhesive I had to apply some tombow glue to attach the black cardstock. I’m guessing the slickness of the embossed area is what created this problem for me. I then attached my stamped skeleton images using foam squares to give distance between them and the window. I wanted to keep this card simple so the fun colors stand out which is why I did not stamp a sentiment on the front.

I hope you enjoyed this fun, bright card as much as I enjoyed making it.

Do people still blog?

I have been away from this for way to long but life happens and the next thing you know you come back to your passions years later and wonder what happened. As much as I would love to keep up with my blog it's just not practical for me. In the age of social media I usually update things via my phone and don't get much time on the computer. With that being said I will link to my fb page which I still  do not update nearly enough but my goal is to do more this year. Thanks for checking in and hope to see you around.

Fresh Lemonade

Summer is coming to a close and my homemade lemonade days will be turning into hot tea days. So as a farewell to summer i have made some fresh squeezed lemonade and some fun cake pops to go with it. The fresh lemonade tag was made using the preserve cartridge and the gypsy font. I also used raspberry pink, lemonade yellow and raspberry lemonade twine by timeless twine for all twine accents. I hope this inspires you to make the end of the summer great and check out the august challenge on timeless twine!!
